【摘要】:Theminimumenergiesprovideabasisforcomparingtheeaseofignitionofgases.Theflatplateignitionquenchingdistancesprovideanimportantverificationofexistingminimumignitionenergydataandgiveapproximatevaluesofthepropagationquenchingdistancesofthevariousmixtures.Itisemphasizedthatmaximumsafeexperimentalgaps,asfromx201C;flame-proofx201D;orx201C;explosion-proofx201D;studies,arelessthantheflat-plateignitionquenchingdistances.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofminimumenergyforignition(initiationofdeflagration)andassociatedflat-plateignitionquenchingdistances.Thecompletedescriptionisspecifictoalkaneoralkenefuelsadmixedwithairatnormalambienttemperatureandpressure.Thismethodisapplicabletomixturesofthespecifiedfuelswithair,varyingfromthemosteasilyignitablemixturetomixturesneartothelimit-of-flammabilitycompositions.1.2Extensionstootherfuel-oxidizercombinations,andtoothertemperaturesandpressurescanbeaccomplishedwithalltheaccuracyinherentinthismethodifcertainadditionalconditionsaremet:(a)mixturestabilityandcompatibilitywithbomb,seal,andothermaterialsisestablishedthroughtimetestsdescribedinSection;(b)theexpectedpeakpressurefromthetestiswithinthepressureratingofthebomb(establishedasrequiredbytheparticularresearchlaboratory);(c)sparkbreakdownwithinthebombisconsistentwithPaschen''slawforthedistancebeingtested;(d)thetemperature,includingthatofthedischargeelectrodes,isuniform;and(e)ifthetemperatureisotherthanambient,theenergystoragecapacitancerequiredislessthanabout9pF.1.3ThismethodisoneofseveralbeingdevelopedbyCommitteeE-27fordeterminingthehazardsofchemicals,includingtheirvaporsinairorotheroxidantatmospheres.Themeasurementsareusefulinassessingfuelignitabilityhazardsduetostaticorotherelectricalsparks.However,thequenchingdistancedatamustbeusedwithgreatprudencesincetheyareprimarilyapplicabletotheignitionstageandtherefore,representvaluesforinitialpressureandnotthesmallervaluesexistingathigherpressures.1.4Thisstandardshouldbeusedtomeasureanddescribethepropertiesofmaterials,products,orassembliesinresponsetoheatandflameundercontrolledlaboratoryconditionsandshouldnotbeusedtodescribeorappraisethefirehazardorfireriskofmaterials,products,orassembliesunderactualfireconditions.However,resultsofthistestmaybeusedaselementsofafireriskassessmentwhichtakesintoaccountallofthefactorswhicharepertinenttoanassessmentofthefirehazardofaparticularenduseThisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecificsafetyprecautionsarelistedinSection5.
